Surrender

Definition

Surrender –    An action word to be done voluntarily. To yield oneself to the possession or power of another. To deliver oneself up in totality to the influence of another. To give up, abandon, or relinquish one’s personal rights and control in submission to another. To submit oneself to the command, authority, power, and control of another.

For the true Christian, the “another” is the Lord God Almighty, the Lord Jesus Christ.

You may surrender this way:   I voluntarily yield myself to the possession and power of the Lord God Almighty. I deliver my own self up in heart, mind, body, will, soul, strength, and emotion to the influence of the Lord Jesus Christ. I give up, abandon, and relinquish my own personal rights and control in submission to the Word of God and the Holy Spirit. I submit myself to the command, authority, power, and control of the Lord God Almighty.

By surrendering yourself, that is your will, mind, emotion, thoughts, actions, attitudes, to the living Lord God Almighty, you are now under the Lord God Almighty's power and control which enables and equips you to live the life He designed for you to live, for His glory alone. See God's Commitment

When you surrender to the Lord Jesus Christ:

Suddenly your surrender is a commitment to trust and follow God's Word more than your own thoughts, feelings, accustomed culture, life patterns, etc…

Suddenly “your Commitment” to succeed with God is not in the equation. Instead, your faithfulness to God in relationship with and under Him is all that matters. While you have committed to be faithful to God, it is not a matter of prideful works. Instead, the condition of your new heart HY is the source from where your faithful thoughts, actions and attitudes proceed. (Jeremiah 31:33; Ezekiel 11:19; Ezekiel 36:26) New Creation

Suddenly you are not in control of the outcome, but you are to submit to the Lord God Almighty’s absolute and sovereign Authority over your whole life moment by moment, day by day, until He takes you Home.

Suddenly it is not you choosing to control, but by your own freewill submission, it is God Who you choose to have  control you and the results.

Opposite of Surrender is Prideful boasting of “I am committed to doing” demonstrates your choosing to be in charge by your own strength.

This is what the LORD says: "Cursed is the one who trusts in man, who depends on flesh for his strength and whose heart turns away from the LORD. Jeremiah 17:5

Instead should be Humble acknowledging, “I surrender with my heart to obey whatever God says” reveals that God is in charge of you. This is a “commitment” by you that God honors joyfully and faithfully.

People were bringing little children to Jesus to have Him touch them, but the disciples rebuked them. When Jesus saw this, He was indignant. He said to them, "Let the little children come to Me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. I tell you the truth, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it." And He took the children in His arms, put His hands on them and blessed them. Mark 10:13-16

People do not trust easily. But Unconditional Love for God is trusting Him – TRUST.

If I am not making a commitment, does that mean nothing is required of me? No.         What is required of you is your obedience to God His way. If you want to commit to surrendering to God for God's will by God's way, then that is the "commitment" God commands. Surrender is the only kind of commitment that can honor God. It is harder because it causes you to be mindful and heart-fully in touch with the living God. Surrender starts with telling the Holy God you do surrender to Him

Jesus looked at them and said, "With man this is impossible, but not with God; all things are possible with God." Mark 10:27

What is required of you? You are to be faithful, honest, transparent, and truthful in relating with God on a moment to moment, day to day, year to year basis. It does not require your perfection, but your direction living with and for the Lord Jesus Christ. Then you will see the sanctification process in your life and you will rejoice! (Micah 6:8)            Many links describe this kind of liquid, moving, vibrant relationship with the Living All Mighty God by His Word and His Holy Spirit.
